# ChatGPT Ads creative enhancements: what they change and how to turn them off

OpenAI switched on "creative enhancements" for new and existing self-serve ChatGPT Ads campaigns at the end of October 2026 (OpenAI's email said 30 October; its help page gave other dates). Unless you opted out before, ChatGPT may now change your ads without asking you first.

## Free check: is ChatGPT changing your ads?

6 questions, about 1 minute. Nothing you type is stored; we only count that the check was used.

## What ChatGPT can change

| Change | What OpenAI's help text says | Risk |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Headlines and descriptions | "OpenAI may create new or updated text to connect your offering to the conversation or user interests." | Claims, prices or legal wording you didn't approve |
| Language | "OpenAI may translate your ad text into another language." | Ads in a language your site or support doesn't serve |
| Images | "Images may be resized to fit the ad format." | Cropped logos or text |
| Destination URL | "The destination URL may be optimized to direct people to a relevant page on your website." | Clicks landing on the wrong offer, country or form |

OpenAI's email to advertisers said: "When enabled, these ads can run automatically without requiring you to review or approve each version." Reports of the help page say it "does not provide a preview of every variation", and we found no report that shows which rewritten version ran.

## How to turn creative enhancements off

- Sign in to ChatGPT Ads Manager (ads.openai.com).
- Open **Settings** (shown as "Manage settings" in some accounts) and find the ** Creative enhancement** card (marked Beta).
- Switch it **off**. One switch covers all four changes: you can't keep translation but stop rewrites, for example.
- Open **each campaign's settings**. A campaign's own setting wins over the account default, so a campaign set to "on" stays on even if the account is off.
- Take a dated screenshot of the account setting and each campaign. If a client, a regulator or a platform asks later, it's your proof.

Opt-outs you made before the switch-over were kept, according to OpenAI's email. New campaigns may follow the account default, so check new campaigns as you create them.

## Who should keep it off

- Finance, insurance, health, legal, alcohol, gambling or any ad with required disclosures.
- Ads with exact prices, offers, dates or guarantees.
- Campaigns that must land on one page (a lead form, a country store, a limited offer).
- Brands with strict style rules, and agencies that need client approval for every ad.

If you do test enhancements, run them in one campaign, compare results against an untouched campaign, and keep the rest off.

## Questions

### Can I turn off only translation or only landing-page changes?

Not as far as published reports show. The setting is one switch for all four types of change, at account or campaign level.

### Does it apply to campaigns bought through an agency or partner?

OpenAI's email described self-serve campaigns. If an agency or ad-tech partner runs your ads, ask them in writing which setting your campaigns use.

### Can I see the rewritten ads?

Reports say there is no preview of every version, and reports are at campaign, ad group and ad level (impressions, clicks, spend, CTR, conversions). We found no separate report of enhanced versions.
