ChatGPT Ads tracking link builder

Visits from ChatGPT often show up as "direct" in analytics. Tag your ad links so you can see what ChatGPT ads really bring in.

Adds utm_source=chatgpt, utm_medium=paid, utm_campaign and utm_content. Your existing parameters are kept. Works in your browser; nothing is sent to us.

Conversion tracking checklist

  1. Install the OpenAI measurement pixel on every page, and fire a purchase or lead event on the thank-you page.
  2. Send the same events through the Conversions API from your server, so ad blockers and browsers don't lose them.
  3. Use the same event ID (and pixel ID and event name) in the pixel and the server event, so each sale is counted once, not twice.
  4. Keep the click ID. ChatGPT ad clicks carry an oppref value in the address. The Conversions API doesn't pick it up for you: save it when the visitor lands and send it with the server event.
  5. Check redirects and cookie banners. A redirect or consent tool that drops the query string turns tagged visits into "direct" and loses the click ID.
  6. Allow 24 to 48 hours before judging results: attributed conversions arrive late, and spend can lag about 7 to 8 hours.
  7. Compare with your real orders. ChatGPT Ads uses last-click attribution (7, 14 or 30 days after a click; view-through off or 1 day). Changing the window changes reports, not billing.
